After the initial recovery of solvent after a centrifugal extraction of CBD or THC, the processor will then have to remove any remaining solvent and decarboxylate their product.
In this phase of the extraction process for cannabis oil, the cannabinoids move from their acidic form, either CBD-A or THC-A for example, to their active forms of CBD or THC. This is especially important when making distillate that is high in purification, so that the oil itself doesn’t crystalize.
In the past, smaller cannabis extraction facilities have used rotary evaporation equipment or smaller glass reactors to preform decarboxylation. However, as the industry scales so must the equipment. C1D1 Labs has recently released 50L, 100L, and 200L stainless steel Decarboxylation Reactors.
Decarb Reactors by C1D1 Labs
These reactors have both an explosion proof motor for agitation, and built in C1D1 heaters that bring the unit to 250F. This specifically helps when a more experienced extractors leave some solvent in their product to help move the oil to their decarboxylation reactor. These reactors are meant to both recover alcohol with a vacuum assisted cycle that uses dual stainless steel condenser coils and decarboxylate the extracted cannabis oil.
As a final touch, C1D1 Labs includes both an ethanol and terpene cold trap to ensure you keep your condensed volatiles and solvent out of your pump and in your classified extraction room from C1D1 Labs. These cold traps are now made in-house by C1D1 labs and can use either dry ice or a mechanical chiller. Finally, all of these cool functionalities on the stainless steel decarb reactors are controlled by a digital PLC that is easy to use. Our decarboxylation reactors can also be easily added and used on any of our mobile extraction lab set ups!
